Built-in obsolescence may be common in cars and consumer electronics but its not a term that many would associate with houses. In Japan though, its common to demolish homes and rebuild from scratch after just 30 years. Economists argue that treating houses as a disposable commodity robs people of potential assets. CCTV’s Mike Firn reports from Tokyo.
