Cathy Yang is CCTV’s English correspondent based in Hong Kong.

Yang was most recently Reporter-Presenter at Reuters TV in Hong Kong where she conducted live financial market reports and produced human-interest feature packages. She worked at Reuters for about four years.

Prior to that, Cathy has anchored for Bloomberg Television Asia-Pacific for nearly 10 years, previously in Tokyo and then in Hong Kong. In 2001, 2002 and 2003, Cathy was awarded the title of “Best News Presenter” at the prestigious Asian Television Awards. The three-peat-win is a first in this category.

Cathy began her broadcast career in her native Philippines with one of the country’s largest private television networks, ABS-CBN. In 1997, Cathy won an award for “Most Outstanding Investigative Journalist” which led to a scholarship at the University of Cardiff in Wales, U.K.  She has also participated in CNN’s International Partnership Program in Atlanta, U.S. and was chosen for Reuters Foundation journalism fellowship at the Oxford University in England.

In 2004, Cathy was given the prestigious “Excellence in Media Award” by De La Salle University in Manila, making her the youngest recipient ever among the nation’s media luminaries. And just five years into her media career in 1997, Cathy bagged the most coveted “Best Educational Host” award given by the Star Awards.

In March 2008, Cathy was honored the “most notable woman achiever” in the field of media by the Filipino-Chinese Federation of Business and Professional Women of the Philippines.
